Friends
Before we can get together, socialize or entertain we have to have Friends. Do you have friends? or at least acquaintances? Let’s start with a simple old Webster’s definition.
FRIEND – A person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard.
A person who is on good terms with another; a person who is not hostile.
Well that seems fairly straightforward. So you should start by taking a mental inventory of people you consider your friends and ask yourself – do you have any feelings of affection? Not necessarily love, just affection, personal regard. Do you care about their life, about what happens to them? Are you on good terms with them? Not hostile.
Now remember these are questions for you – Are YOU, all these things. You have to be a friend to have a friend.
Now secondarily, we are trying to have a social event so lets go with the lesser – Aquaintances.
Acquaintance – A person Known to one, but usually not a close friend.
Now we socialize with acquaintances all the time. Most of the people that we work with, meet at parties, bars, events are acquaintances. So we can have a great party with people we barely know. If we’re lucky enough, from these events, we may emerge a friend or two.
Obviously really good friends and BFF’s, go alot deeper. But it’s January and we have all year to blog about this. So let’s just start here. Click back a day and answer the poll. Look for days when there will be simple quotes designed to make you think of a friend or work on a friendship.
