Well it April, Easter has come and gone – and no matter where you live the weather is getting warmer.  Here is an interesting cocktail that those of you who like beer will have to tell me what you think.  I may have to give this one a try, it just looks so fresh and fruity.  Berries are in season – so go for it.

Raspberry Beer Cocktails

3/4 cup frozen raspberries
3 1/2 (12-oz.) bottles beer, chilled
1 (12-oz.) container frozen raspberry lemonade concentrate, thawed
1/2 cup vodka
Garnish: lemon and lime slices and fresh berries
Stir together first 4 ingredients.  Serve over ice.

Serves 6

Income Tax Cocktail

 Well hopefully you’ve already done your taxes.  If so you can sit back and enjoy this Income Tax Cocktail in leisure.  If you haven’t,  here is a bit of good news.  We’ve all been given an extension til April 17th. (Evidentally it’s Patriots Day, a holiday, but only in Washington DC.  Since the IRS works from that city they are closed and have given us all a couple more days.)  The fact that the 15th is on a Sunday, confuses me but never the less enjoy a Friday cocktail.

Orange Martini

Ingredients:

• 2 oz gin
• 1/4 oz  sweet vermouth
• 1/4 oz dry vermouth
• 1 oz orange juice
• Angostura bitters to taste
• orange twist for garnish

Preparation:

1. Pour the ingredients into a shaker with ice cubes.
2. Shake Well.
3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
4. Garnish with the orange twist.

April  Showers

Crisp and Clean like the rain of spring – Here is our April/Aries Zodiac Cocktail for the Month!

Aries (March 21-April 19) 
For the ambitious, headstrong Aries, appropriately defined by the Ram as your symbol and fire as your element, a refreshing cocktail like the April Showers is a good choice for you. Smirnoff’s Citrus Vodka, crisp with lime and orange flavors, is the base of this delightful cocktail. Sharing in your tenacious spirit are Tom Clancy, Bob Woodward, Eddie Murphy, Hugh Hefner and Sarah Jessica Parker.

 

April Showers 

1 ounce Smirnoff Citrus Vodka
½ ounce champagne
2 lemon wedges (for muddling)
½ ounce simple syrup
3 fresh mint leaves

Muddle the lemon wedges and mint leaves, then discard the wedges. Mix in vodka, champagne, and simple syrup. Serve in a highball glass over ice.
